Interesting news as the Abu Dhabi-based ownership group of Man City moves close to ownership of the 2nd (or 1st based on your viewpoint) NYC MLS team.

Some interesting questions:

If the team is known as NYCFC, does “City” (Man City, NY City, etc.) become the over-arching brand for the global operations/promotion of the Manchester City group?
Does the group move young MCFC prospects to NYCFC on loan? How would highly paid loaned players count against the MLS salary cap? Can there be loaned Designated Players?
Does Beckham get in bed with Man City despite his allegiance to ManU?
Do current MCFC sponsors move to NYCFC?

The massive sports and entertainment firm has “multiple suitors.” Anschutz Company has retained as financial advisors Blackstone Advisory Partners, which recently managed the auction of the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to the news release.”
